Josh grew up in Austin, Texas, and studied music and sound engineering at Texas State University in San Marcos. After receiving a B.A. in Music, Josh moved to Nashville to help lead worship and dive into the rich music scene Nashville offers. Soon after moving to town, Josh signed to Centricity Music Publishing and began to hone his songwriting craft. In 2013, Josh signed his second publishing deal with Word Entertainment.
Josh’s songs have been recorded by artists like Natalie Grant, Riley Clemmons, Sanctus Real, Group 1 Crew, David Dunn, Chris McClarney, and Austin French, among others. In 2007, he was a major player in breaking We Are Messengers, a Word Entertainment recording group, to Christian radio. Josh co-wrote and produced their first top ten single, “Everything Comes Alive.” In 2017, he experienced his first No. 1 on the Christian Billboard charts with “Rise” for American Idol Finalist Danny Gokey. As a songwriter, his talents have brought him outside the sphere of Christian music and into the world of Film and TV. Josh’s songs have made appearances on major networks like NBC and hit shows like the CW’s “One Tree Hill” and MTV’s “Teen Wolf.” Josh’s song “Mona Lisa,” recorded by OBB, was featured in the 2017 Google Chromebook campaign.
